No Japan trip.

Welp, that settles that.

[livejournal.com profile] elenuial's family has two possible times for planning on going to Japan this summer. First is end of may to beginning of June, and the other is in September. He wants me to come along, and the first time we've talked about dates is today.

The first one, it would only be him, his brother, and his dad, and it would also coincide with moving to the second floor. And it would be awkward to not bring the whole family, but instead bring the girlfriend. So, no to that option.

The second option is in September, about two months after the puppy comes home. Also not an option.

And the trip will probably be for about a month.

That definitely doesn't work at all. Not only would that mean boarding the puppy for the first month of his adolescence, but also missing the first month of classes should I decide to go back to school.

And I don't get time to think about it or any alternatives - they gave him the dates today, and he says that knowing his family, he has a matter of about a day to decide. So I have two bad options and no time to think about them. Of course the answer's going to be no.

I mean, I'd basically figured a while ago that I wouldn't be going for one reason or another, but still.

Today's pretty much sucked.

Would it be possible to have someone stay in your apartment to "Puppy-sit" for that month?

I mean I'm offering to do so, but I understand if you're not comfortable letting a pet care amateur take care of a puppy.

Go on the early trip, if it's going to be an abridged family the outsider won't be as much of an inconvenience (especially since it's all guys). The second option sounds like it's got some solid reasons that it might not work, but the reasons for the first sound pretty overcomeable.

And it's a month-long trip to Japan! You won't get to do that many times in your life and it's only going to get harder as time goes on. Seize the day!

I think the main problem with leaving the puppy is that it would be so early in its life that that she would miss significant training and imprinting periods.

On a less serious note, your username is doompuppy. Do I need to say more? ;)

I can imagine how disappointed and frustrating this is. Sorry it didn't work out :(

Yeah, I'm on the side of not getting why the early trip is a no-go. Maybe not ideal 100 percent perfect but no month-long venture is going to be perfectly convenient.

In fact, I am so confused by this it gets the Buffy "Huh?" icon.

That sir, is an awesome point.

I think I see why. The family isn't going to do both dates, so they're probably going to want to do the one that let's more of the rest of the family go.

I think the early trip is one she could say yes to, but it's probably less likely to happen. So yeah, I guess I do agree that it should be an option for her. It just might not be as much of an option for others.
