Caterpillar pics for y'all!
( images )
There they are! I'm not sure which caterpillar is which in the pictures - not that it matters much, as of yesterday the larger one started his chrysalis. It's a neat thing to watch - they spend a day or two prepping with a few strands, and then they seem to randomly do the whole thing at once in a matter of minutes. Here's hoping the big guy does alright!

P.S. The smaller one went into his chrysalis successfully. Trouble is, I don't think he was the smartest egg in his clutch - after surveying countless surfaces, including so many sticks and sides and covers, he decided to attach himself to the floor. And although his chrysalis has turned a lovely (and normal!) shade of brown, the pattern on it suggests he might be a different swallowtail. Oops.
