So, I acquired a bunch of 80s music for Better off Dead. Here is a printout of my list so far. Warning: it's a PDF. I don't know how to get iTunes to export my playlist as a text document. And the music isn't organized in any way.

Basically: What's not on there that you'd expect to hear at an 80s prom?

So, my dad's trying to get his mp3s off of his old hard drive by putting it in the new tower, alongside the brand-new one. The computer accesses the hard drive just fine, and has no trouble opening everything but the mp3s. When he tries to play/copy/anything, he gets this message:

If it helps, he's running Windows 7 now.

Anyone know how to bypass this?

(and thanks for all the birthday wishes so far! =D)

Is there any way to salvage a laptop once it's gotten wet?

Does anyone on my f-list in the area:
a) know of a place to get large quantities of sheer plastic cheap? Like, shower curtain material, enough for two or three curtains?
b) have a white claw-footed bathtub (preferably near a window) that they wouldn't mind me commandeering for a few hours during a photo shoot on thursday? Baked goods/jewelry would be offered as compensation.

K thx.

So, Google Chrome.

Like it? Love it? Hate it?

I'm looking into it and am wondering how others have fared.

Posting from [livejournal.com profile] elenuial's computer. Mine is useless.

Some stupid virus/spyware got into my computer last night somehow. It started by changing my background and taking out the option to change said background, then made it so that whenever I booted up, five seconds in to moving around on my desktop, the desktop freezes. Anything else that is running gets frozen, and an installation tool pops up for something I've never heard of.

*sigh*

What are my options here, people? I really don't want to have to wipe it. There's a lot on that hard drive that I haven't backed up yet.

Anyone got any ideas?

So, I'm stuck at a level in Portal where in order to progress, I need to jump off a cliff (into a portal) in order to come out jumping as high as possible on the other side.

My question is this: Do you gain more momentum by
a) pencil-dropping into a portal close to the base
or
b) jumping on an angle into a portal some distance from the base?

Whichever it is, I need to figure out how to get that extra edge. I'm coming up just barely too short every time.

EDIT: To help, here's a cheap little diagram:

1. Jump into hole.
2. Come out of hole full-force
3. Shoot next platform with previous color portal at apex of jump
4. Come out of new portal instead, repeat 3

That continues for about 4 platforms or so.

So, my lil old camera is on its last legs. I need a new one. Things I'm looking for:

- Consumer grade. Not too fancy or expensive, expensive for me being over $300.
- Takes AA batteries and SD cards
- Has things like altering zoom, no timestamp option, timing, multiple picture setting, resolution options, exposure adjustment
- High quality, easy to use, durable

Any recommendations?

Before I do this (because blocking telemarketers is a plus), is it a scam?

Legit? Not?

For the first time, [livejournal.com profile] elenuial and I both have Valentine's day free. Naturally, we're at a loss for what to do. My suggestions of Boston and Providence both involve an hour of transit, which [livejournal.com profile] elenuial wants to avoid, so those're out.

Our ideas so far:
-Worcester Art Museum
-Dining out/cooking something special

Seriously. Drawing a blank. But we fully want to take advantage of an entire day together.

So, what else is there to do around here? ~15 min drive should be fine, too.

Is it safe to take pictures of a lunar eclipse with my digital camera?

I have no experience whatsoever with this sort of thing, and thought someone might know.
