All right. So I like Ilsa/Elsa, and it seems like most of the intarwebs agrees. I'm leaning slightly toward Elsa, but mostly for the ease of saying it for recall/training purposes. And "Ellie." And I've been trying out "Elsa" for a few days. But a second opinion is always good.

I got to visit her on Saturday after work and before Philly. Her parents were there, and aggressively friendly. =) Her breeder? Ridiculously wealthy. Seriously. She had a tuscan fireplace in her glass solarium/sunroom. Anyway, she brought out the pups and immediately, this little girl came running (toddling, as pups are wont to do) over to me, chewing my fingers and playing in my skirt. Her brother was glued to his mum, crying and whimpering when no one paid attention to him. But this girl was always engaging, responsive, and OH GOD CUTE. Her ears are the size of Brazil and her markings are nearly show-perfect. Plus, after fifteen minutes of play, she decided to curl up and nap in my legs. Apparently, this is the first time she's slept with someone other than mama dog, so this was definitely a good sign.

She comes home around the 22nd. =)

More pictures under the cut! )

And now for one of the harder parts: naming her. I have a few things in mind, but everything's still up in the air. Does anything stand out to you, LJ-land?

I should bid my game for Intercon K.

But it needs a name. Something John Hughes-themed?

An actual update on Intercon to come later, but for now -

Some of you may know that I've wanted to try my hand at campaign GMing for a while. I've gotten a lot of positive feedback about my games thus far, and this past Intercon, I had a lot of fun with the role that the GM plays in storytelling.

So, just to get some info:

EDIT: If I were to bid this as an Intercon game, would anyone actually play in it?

Snakesmas!

So, I took holiday photos of the babies (they're four and a half months old now!) and thought it would be nice to send some to their breeder, who has been wonderful throughout the bumpy road to happy and healthy snakes.

Question is, which ones to send? I want to send one of each snake, so I've narrowed it down to three each:

It's become increasingly apparent that Howl is much more human-centric, always checking to see what I'm doing and if I'm accessible, while Calcifer is just... Haz-centric. He's more interested in his surroundings than people, but adores me when given the chance.

Both make for photogenic babies. =) They've gotten so big - I should photograph them with a quarter for scale.

I have the urge to make jewelry, due in no small part to having only two or three unsold pieces left.

What I'd like to know from you guys is: what would you like to see more of in my work?

So, the other night at [livejournal.com profile] nyren's game sendoff, it was said to me that both Brandeis and October were excellent options for re-running Martha Stewart's Guide to Interdimensional Summoning (and Basting a Turkey). With my work schedule and the reptile convention, it'd have to be a Sunday NOT the day after Halloween and NOT the 4th.

For those who don't remember, here's the Intercon blurb:

"You always knew she had special powers. And now, she's sharing the secret to her success by hosting a meet-and-greet conference: half the guests are human, half... distinctly not.
Welcome to Martha Stewart's little villa! Everyone here is looking for something, and you're sure as hell going to find it. Whether through chatting over designer teacups or playing in one of the party icebreakers, you'll get to know your fellow guests (and their unique talents and aspirations), and have the option of taking one home with you at the end of the day.
Yes, it's not exactly what one thinks of when they picture what it's like to contract with a demon - even Martha can't get goat's blood out of a carpet! - but it's all very modern and chic. Just like our lovely and talented hostess.
And don't forget - you can use all the summoning ingredients afterward to baste and roast a 15-pound turkey. If your new found friend has a domestic side to them (and a talent for fire!), you won't even need to preheat the oven."

They're booking rooms on Tuesday, so I'll close the poll then.

Okay, looks like this dress has soaked up all the dye it ever will, especially after three different kinds of dye. And it's a better color than it was - dusky pink is INFINITELY better than lavender. Plus, it gives me the option to swap out to white roses/freesia on my hairclip/bustle accent. It wouldn't take a lot of effort, as they're pop-on, pop-off. Plus, white would look better with pearls. And I could even wear my cyberfalls with it sometime.

Also, it would be totally fitting for my character to wear this demure, modest dress with a bright red corset peeking out from underneath xD And it'd be perfect with a red garter.

All in all, I'm settling for the "this is an awesome dress, but it's not the *red seductress dress* I wanted." The seductress dress should be slinkier, anyway. Maybe I'll wait for red satin to go on sale and buy a pattern and make the damn thing myself.

So, the dress I'm wearing for Tis No Deceit is (hopefully) a big red faux-satin full gown with a bustle and some little clear glass beadwork. I'm making accessories for my hair and bustle using red and black roses, which helps with the Victoriana theme.

Speaking of victoriana, I'm trying to figure out whether to go in all decked out in rhinestones (no rhinestones in the flower accents) or pearls (with pearl/gold drops set into the flower accents). I'm not sure which goes with the overall theme better. I have equally as much jewelry made of both; they're sitting in boxes. It's just a matter of style.

[Poll #1383800]

I will start assembling them tonight and add in accents accordingly.

So, I'll be playing a young Kaylee from Firefly in a game at Intercon. I just got my character sheet, and Kaylee is super cute and girly. Yep, definitely Kaylee. Now, time to assemble a costume.

Here's my dilemma:
As I was re-watching Firefly, Kaylee is sometimes seen wearing floral Little House on the Prarie dresses. But whenever she's on the ship, it's usually cargoes or a jumpsuit. I can easily assemble either costume, but I happen to have the perfect floral-on-cream gingham dress sitting in my closet that I can easily throw a toolbelt onto and pair with gear earrings and some boots/flats. Else, it'll be cargoes and a tank top.
