So, I took holiday photos of the babies (they're four and a half months old now!) and thought it would be nice to send some to their breeder, who has been wonderful throughout the bumpy road to happy and healthy snakes.

Question is, which ones to send? I want to send one of each snake, so I've narrowed it down to three each:

[Poll #1502326]

It's become increasingly apparent that Howl is much more human-centric, always checking to see what I'm doing and if I'm accessible, while Calcifer is just... Haz-centric. He's more interested in his surroundings than people, but adores me when given the chance.

Both make for photogenic babies. =) They've gotten so big - I should photograph them with a quarter for scale.

Ooo. Those are lovely snakes, and lovely shots.

It took me a few moments to figure out what I was looking at (other than snake) on the Howl shots; I voted after the click of "Oh - star!"

The Calcifer pics are absolutely gorgeous; the colors and curves/lighting really grab me. It was a real toss-up between #1 and #2.

Thanks! I can't wait to see what they'll look like as adults. =)

The first two for Howl were very difficult to choose. #1 is the overall better picture, with him wrapped around the star, but I did find myself looking at the star more than him.

#2 is all about Howl. He just jumps out at you in that one, like "This is my picture!"

He really is a lot more people-oriented than his brother. He just wanted to be with me.

I tended towards the pictures where they were looking vaguely towards the camera. Human Instinct is to be drawn to and respond to faces looking at us, so I think they had the most impact. Especially with Howl, the first two shots were either so much about the star that you lost the snake, or so much about the snake that you lost the star, where I felt the third was a more balanced composition, which seemed to be the point of the shoot.

I changed my vote because I realized after clicking through that the third one of Howl is not as clear as the first one. The third one was a very cute shape though, and I liked how he seemed to be hanging down from the ornament with his face in the middle of what could easily be a card/postcard.

But clarity wins this time.
