Rewarded!

So, yesterday, I did something very brave. I was nervous, and thought to myself "I'll do it in a week, when I have more nerve." But then elenuial encouraged me, showed me his support, and I thought "What the hell. I have nothing to lose." So I filled out my application and sent it in.

The post-application page said "Thank you for your application. Because of the volumes of applications we receive and the competition for acceptances, it may take us over a week to get back to you."

And then, as I talked to a few people about it, I got more and more nervous. I got choruses of "It's perfect for you, you should do it!" followed by "But it's very hard to get in," The competition is really tough," and "A lot of pretty girls get rejected." And of course, "Good luck."

So I went to bed, comforting myself with the fact that even though I had over a week of waiting to look forward to, at least I applied. I would've probably put it off and never done it otherwise. So at least I could say that I did it.

I woke up this morning, no message. Big surprise. I worked on the computer for a while, and about an hour ago, I got a gmail ping. I went to my inbox, saw who it was from, and eeped.

The body of the message?

"We think you're perfect. You're in."

The day after I applied.

Holy. Euphoria. Batman.

So now I'm on cloud nine, which isn't exactly a good thing, as I'm going to a wake in an hour and a half. Oops.

But the first thing I did was to call elenuial, who had a response of "I keep telling you you're gorgeous. And... I'm banging you. That's hot."

And oddly enough, hearing it from him this once, even though I hear it from him all the time, made me that much happier.

See? Amazing things can happen when you work on and feel good about yourself.

I think I just got motivated enough to lose another ten pounds.
