This is how I roll
Nov. 5th, 2007 01:14 pmAs per usual, whenever
elenuial has something happen or is in a funk, I make comfort food. It ranges from clam chowder to scallion pancakes to triple chocolate layer cakes, etc.
So my plan for today is to make an almond peaches and cream cake. The cake itself will be run-of-the-mill vanilla with just a hint of almond. In the cream cheese frosting between the two layers, there'll be small chunks of peach, and then layering thin slices of peach on the top.
Does that sound like good comfort food? If not, I may need to pull out my trump card of scampi.

Haz's Peaches and Cream Cake (with Almond)
(best served warm)
( Recipe and pictures under cut. Baking hints included. )
I love cooking. And I've had teachers since I was a baby - dad was a graduate chef, mum was a pastry baker. It's in my blood. No wonder I have so much fun with food.
Enjoy!

EDIT: Now I'm in such a mood to cook that I'm making scampi for dinner anyway! =)
