Fuck this noise.
Dec. 10th, 2007 10:03 amI'm having one of those "the universe hates you" days.
Yesterday, my throat started getting sore and my nose was slightly stuffed. By nightfall, I could barely swallow and was blowing my nose every two minutes. So I drank a lot of juice, made sure to eat (miso soup was part of dinner), took a few lozenges and some Dayquil, and thought it would probably be cleared up in the morning.
Nope!
Not only did it get worse, it got so bad that I couldn't sleep. I woke up every hour (pretty much on the hour) from sheer discomfort. I'd get something to drink, clear my sinuses, or take a sip of Dayquil, and return to bed. Still, less than an hour of sleep each bout means no sleep. No sleep that really matters, anyway.
But I got up this morning, vomited the Dayquil (Guess we learned something new today), and got dressed and ready for class. Tea in hand, I went down the stairs -
into a magical land of ice. Apparently, the melting snow and light rain created layers of ice over EVERYTHING (even the plants), which was now melting and leaving a slippery layer on top. I fell not once, but three times, two in the same place. And I was cold, wet, and in a lot of pain when I trudged over to my car - which was frozen shut with that same layer of ice, as was every car on the street. At this point, I just gave up and nearly fell going back upstairs. Once there, I told
elenuial that I'd had it, which disappointed him, but I was proud that I'd even made it that far. Normally, I'd have rolled over in bed and kept trying to sleep.
Which I can't do now, of course, since my throat is worse and my body is covered in developing bruises situated so that no matter how I lay down, it'll hurt.
I hate this. I just feel too beaten, too defeated to keep pushing my luck. I have a feeling that if I went to class today, a gas main under the building would have blown up or some such nonsense.
I need a shower.

EDIT: Just got an e-mail saying class was cancelled today. It doesn't make me less sick or not hurting, but still.
