It was sunny, windy, and amazing.

Wearing that dress is exhausting, but worth it.

I felt legitimately pretty in that dress today. And that says a lot.

Done!

I lied.

ONE shot of the dress. After that, y'all will have to wait and see. =)

The picture doesn't do the richness of the pink justice. It's gray out today, after all.

What do you think of the finished* product?

*"finished" meaning I just have to add a few stitches.

That gown I'm tailoring for Tis no Deceit?

It has pockets hidden in the pleats.

Win!

- [livejournal.com profile] elenuial's EEE seems to be running okay! =D

- Anyone want to go shopping with me tomorrow at Kohl's in the afternoon? I get out of work 1:30ish, and have coupons for 15% off entire purchase.

- You ever see one of those little girls that you know are going to grow up to be gorgeous? I saw one today. Eight years old, slender, big almond eyes framed by huge lashes and long, sideswept brown hair. She looked almost native american in features, and was well-spoken. I found it hard not to stare.

Awesome photoshoot today. I switched photographers, and was delighted to shoot with the amazing Lisa Colandrea.

Here's a preview shot to tide you over while she and I edit. =)

What do y'all think of Cyberpunk Haz? (also, need me to lj-cut it?)
hazliya: (Default)
I am now very adept at assembling Cyberlox falls. I have two sets of bouncy pigtails and a long, fire-colored swishy ponytail for [livejournal.com profile] elenuial.

This will be awesome.

So, I had a hell of a night last night. Between huge braindump post, ridiculously busy time at work, coming home to 60+ comments and a handful of emails in reply to said post, and some of the conversations that ensued, I was kept occupied.

One of these was a very revealing conversation with [livejournal.com profile] buddhagrrl, who I'm pretty sure I broke at one point. xD Nevertheless, it was awesome to talk with her, and I look forward to going on double dates/hangouts with her and [livejournal.com profile] jingsaw. They've never been to the zoo in providence, so that's something that needs to change. [livejournal.com profile] elenuial also mentioned wanting to go to the RISD museum, so that's also an option.

I also spent a good deal of time talking to [livejournal.com profile] elenuial, who laughed when I told him who some of my past crushes had been. Hey, he'd asked! That's what he gets for being nosy. We also spoke more abut space and boundaries and each other's concerns, which was very productive and surprisingly understandable for each of us. There were a lot of jokes, but couching things in humor tends to be our way of emotionally defusing ourselves. The other way of emotionally defusing ourselves is what kept us up 'til 2:30, but that's another story altogether. =)

There are a lot of exciting things going on right now in my life. Here's hoping even half of them work out well.

Intercon!

Off to work, then straightaway to Intercon. I should be able to make it barely in time for Story wars (assuming that [livejournal.com profile] elenuial is ready to go straightaway and there's no traffic). I'll have phone and internets, but otherwise pretty much incommunicado.

Crazy random happenstances, all good, in sequence:
-Woken up to Rock band
-Made jewelry!
-Cleared out tasty leftovers for lunch
-We got in a Bogart netflix movie (score!)
-The above was made even more awesome when [livejournal.com profile] elenuial let me know that today was the last day to see Coraline in 3D!
-...and I just happened to have two free movie passes tucked away!
-AND the theatre is doing $6 tuesdays again!
-AND they had blue slushies that weren't broken!
-Coraline was awesome.
-No traffic on the way home!
-More rock band!
-Tumbling around for over an hour =)
-...ending just in time to order from Nancy Chang's!
-...which I have a gift certificate for!
-And I went to pick up ice cream at chopper...
-...which had the awesome Central Market ice cream on sale!
-And one of my favorite songs was playing on the radio when I got in the car.

Today = made of win.

Dog sees God opens tonight! I am ze excited. =D

You should come see it. It's a bitchin' show.

Happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] shogunhb! May your years be filled with more scotch and amateur taxidermy. Though not in tandem. That would be bad.

...or awesome.

One of the LJ layouts I promised to do is done! [livejournal.com profile] juldea now has a new pretty-shiny-pink-purple-blue-JoCo-in-space theme. =)
Go check it out.

Those space images were from scratch. Man, I love photoshop.

EDIT: Anyone else want to get in on my "haz-needs-something-to-do-so-ok-make-me-a-layout" list?

Flakes!

Intercon game accepted! =D "Martha Stewart's Guide to Interdimensional Summoning (and Basting a Turkey)."

Now I can actually start my favorite part: making characters.

Today has been a good day.

It's done!*

And I'm so happy with it. It's not draped right on the mannequin, but that's okay. It was mostly up there for pinning, anyhow.

I've never made anything with sleeves before, so those were a challenge. When they're on me, they'll be stuffed with tulle or some such.

Also, the white collar? Totally had to be hand-stitched the entire way, because a) I don't know the setting for batting on my machine and b) the needle's been worn down, and started snagging the fabric halfway through the jacket. Bu the collar stays up, true to form!

I'm also not sure what necklace to wear, as I have a rhinestone necklace, several pearl necklaces of all shapes and sizes, and the filigree silver heart (pictured).

Pictures! Notice the shoes. )

And I'm planning with a new photographer on Sunday to have some shots taken in it. And maybe a quick set with Bowie!

Exciting. I can't wait to try the whole thing on.

*except for a few pins

So, a bunch of people are headed out to the Boston area for goth clubbing tonight. Apparently, one of the scenes (x mortis, I think) is having a "back to school" themed bash, and they decided that I needed to go.

Therefore, I shall most likely be out of commission tonight. Maybe see some of you there. Shit! What am I wearing?

In unrelated news, the last episode of Doctor Who Season 2 made me cry. I hate you all.

-H
hazliya: (Default)
I'm mostly through Season 2 of the new Doctor Who. It's ridiculous and campy. I'm loving it so far. David Tennant is now on my List.

That is all.

-H

EDIT: I should actually compile my List at some point. If I can remember it.

IT'S SO SHORT. I LOVE IT.

It bounces! <3

Why my life is made of awesome right now:

- Bowie! He had a big day yesterday. He had a good shed for once (first time all in one piece! I'm so proud!) and was back in a good mood. We went to PetS* in the morning to get a cat crate for my parents and a heat mat plus food for Bowie (I found surgical tongs! Score!). They were out of anything smaller than medium frozen mice, which was upsetting, but I bit my pride down and went to Petc* instead. While there, I was happy to find that their brand of frozen rodents came in individual packs, something I'd been looking for. So I got my baby a 3-pack of Pinkies and a single Fuzzy. People fawned all over him, and he was very well-behaved! I got to educate some kids, talk to some other herpers (a bunch of redtail owners), and he got to nose around my shirt and embarrass me. He slept most of the time while driving and at Sutman's with the three of us watching TV, but sprang back up when I put him in his feeding tank and prepared his first Fuzzy ever.
He ate the entire thing like a champ.
So now instead of three pinkies he gets a fuzzy every week. For reference, the former is like eating a burger whole. The latter is like eating the waitress.
It's the first time he's ever had to stretch his jaw so wide - it took him a good few minutes to swallow the whole thing and ended up with the tail sticking out of his mouth like spaghetti. It was adorable! He was in a food coma until this morning, the lazy little git, but is now perky and satisfied.
<3 my baby.

- The love of my life is coming home soon!

- Gogol Bordello in concert was amazing.

- Rocky Horror tonight!

- Bower Bird auditions are next week! Holy shit, a play I wrote is a feature show. Holy shit.

- Work, pt 1! Although passive-aggressively pushing me into a position I didn't want, said position isn't quite as bad as I thought. And despite them wanting me to do amounts of work that are, frankly, ridiculous in the time they schedule me, the dogs in my classes are more than making up for it. I have a couple of dogs who were abused-turned-rescued, and I'm helping them and their new owners acclimate. I have a bunch of dogs I'm training to be companion/service/therapy dogs, and some are just adorably goofy puppies that I get to watch grow up. I've also started a new thing that my students are happy about, which is helping them set up play dates with dogs from other classes (dogs get to play with other dogs where both sets of owners know that each dog is healthy, trained, and controlled). I also had my first graduation today~! Pictures later.

- Work, pt 2! I asked, rather short notice, for a few days off this coming week so that I could go ahead to Canada with Sutman and Carmen. Manager K* hemmed and hawed and said, essentially, no. We had a bunch of people out, and a few quit/let go. I was needed. I was disappointed, but understanding. I check the schedule today and - lo and behold - I work until 2pm Wednesday and then not again until class on Saturday morning! Canada is a go, and I'm SO baking Manager K* cookies.

On the other hand, I feel bad that every morning, after my car has been in the driveway overnight, there's a gorgeous spiderweb sitting between the bushes and my driver's side door handle. I relocate my end to another leaf on the bush, but darned if that spider doesn't move it back every damn time.

Off to go sing in the shower.
