Hair odd-yssey, part IV
Jul. 23rd, 2007 10:58 pmSO!
After consulting a few friends and their stylists, I was given advice about my blonde. From what they could tell, my blonde is so persistent that there are two ways to get rid of it.
According to a hair color chart, there are different levels of blonde on a scale of 1 to 10, ten being the "platinum," or damn close to white, and one being soft and close to brown. I'm a level 7/8, apparently, or thereabouts.
So, in order to get down from such a glittery blonde, the best way to do it is layer color.
That didn't work in the past, probably not going to work now.
The second thing suggested was to go with a high-concentration pigment, like a shade of red.
Not sure I want to go reddish again. Although I did like the slight red tint, auburn is not for me.
Option number three is a drastic change. Go dark.
I thought this was the most appealing, so I picked a nice, dark brown. So dark it had a Hawaiian girl on the preview image. I thought that'd be dark enough.
So, I applied it. Waited some extra time, as if I had stubborn grays. I figured stubborn blonde was close enough.
I rinsed out my hair and was excited. From what I could tell, my hair was practically black and it looked great! So I took a blowdryer to it.
Lo and behold, the blonde was still there. Less concentrated, but it had refused to die.
Instead of having smooth, completely dark hair, I have a very nice dark shade with what appear to be strands of gold glitter (not just blonde - glitter) scattered nicely throughout. So not only did it not die, no... It made the remaining vestiges even MORE pronounced by making me a sparkly holdover blonde.
The color has grown on me since (it's been two days), but I'm still thinking of changing it in a month or so, before school starts up again. Maybe I'll go with the reddish tint - and say goodbye to my natural blonde once and for all.
Pictures forthcoming.

Date: 2007-07-24 06:22 pm (UTC)Why are you so dead set against the blonde? Once you know you can kill it, will you be satisfied?
Y'know, your other choice is to go anime. Most of the time if you want to dye your hair, say, green, you have to bleach it first. >:)
