I was putting dishes away when it occurred to me to check the traps. The one on the floor was empty, as well as the one on the first shelf. The third shelf, however, had a trap that was a little heavier than the others. I took a quick look and saw fur. So I fetched the container that I had raised my butterfly in and put it in the tub, along with the trap. When I opened it and tapped the end, out tumbled two adorable little brown mice.

So, over the river they go tonight. No matter how tiny and cute they are. Just holding on to them long enough to show the other tenants and the landlord, just to keep them informed.

Anyway, even though I've caught them, I reset the traps along with a few more. There are two of them, and although they both seem to be female at first glance, one can't know for sure. So any offspring will hopefully find their way into the tasty little jail cell.

EDIT: Um, there's another option I have just been reminded of. If anyone wants the mice as pets, you can totally have them. You'll need your own cage, but I'll totally bring the two little cuties to you. Deadline is 10pm. Call me or IM or leave a comment to lay claim! =)

1) wild mice do not make great pets. and they are dirty (no matter how cute).

2) You can tell when they're male. Male rodents (mice, rats, gerbils, hamsters, etc) have HUGE testicles for their size...like on rats, their testicles are almost the same size as a full grown domestic cat.

So if you don't see "OMG TESTICLES" then they're girls... :)

And disregard my question about where you're putting them. I didn't know those traps worked on more than one mouse at a time. You'd think the first mouse would have told the other not to come in.
