Halloween Costume
Oct. 17th, 2007 06:02 pmI'm thinking of going as The Prince from Katamari.
The components:
Foam "ears"
Foam antenna
Purple tights
Lime green arm warmers
Lime green shoes
Lime green shirt/skirt combo or dress
Tulle petticoat
I'm having a lot of trouble finding lime green clothing that isn't made for a 400-pound woman. I can order the tights online (unless someone knows of a local place that sells bright purple tights?), but I think I may have to make the dress. And shoes. And by "make" shoes, I mean buy cheap shoes and re-cover them in matching dress material.
As for fabric, I know that Wal-mart sells a ton cheap, and there's a Jo-Ann fabrics or Fabric Store or whatever up route 9. But the material itself is in question.
I can make a tulle petticoat in ten minutes.
I love the feel of jersey, but I hate sewing it. But... it makes for easier arm warmers.
I can get better puff with stiffer fabrics as well as easier seams, but it doesn't cling and flatter easily like jersey does. Maybe a jersey top and firmer bottom? Just need to make sure the colors match...
I'm planning on sewing a foam katamari logo onto the skirt. It needs a stiffer fabric.
Grr.
So it looks like I may need to make a fabric/thrift store run in the near future. Anyone want/need to go costume shopping with me?
