So, the costume I made for the Al-Ashtara game also doubled as a great halloween costume, especially as one of my favorite characters ever, Scheherazade. So I called up one of my favorite photographers and he was all for it. =) The waterfall was awesome, especially because I could pretty much climb right on top of the rocks at low "tide," as it were.

And I love that book.

I think I should make one of these into an icon. Any favorites? Not necessarily for an icon, but in general? I tried some new things with this set.

Thanks! Why, out of curiosity, do you like 7?

I like the way your hair falls along the left side of your face. Also the way you look down at the book adds a hint of mystery (and perhaps appeals to the voyeuristic impulse, wherein the observer has spotted your character a moment before she realizes she is observed); the pose and color scheme is very much reminiscent of a Waterhouse painting. I also like the way the pillows and such are arranged in an almost flower shape beneath/around you. It really resonates with me.

I am torn between 5 and 6. But all are lovely.

Any particular reason you're torn?

Wow! You make an awesome and striking Sheharizad!

(edit) Oh, right, faves:

3, with the sidelong look displaying possibilities.
5, for, among other things, the composition.
7 -- composition and the emphasis on the book.

5 is a better shot of the outfit, I get the full fall. and the framing is clean and complete.

6 is a better shot of you, more emotion in it, it suggests more of a story. Its the sort of picture I would have wanted to shoot of you.

I wanted to ask - how did you get the veil to stay on your head? I need to wear a white veil for Nepenthe, and I'm trying to figure out how to do it.

It depends. With mine, since I wanted to be able to fold it back and still look pretty, I found the point I wanted to fold it back at and wrapped it around an elastic headband with a few stitches. If you're going for a veil style *not* like mine, though, I can offer advice. What're you thinking of doing?

I probably don't need to pull it back at any point, so that's not a concern. Something like a bridal veil is sort like what I have in mind. I think attaching it to a headband of some sort is a good idea, either way.

Go to Job Lot or Building 19 or Savers and get a sheer white curtain for $3. That's where I got all of the fabric for the Zaina costume.
