So, this weekend I only played in one game: [livejournal.com profile] mllelaurel and [livejournal.com profile] wired_lizard's Sound of Drums.

It was an interesting experience for me in general. I had a lot of fun, despite not being super interested in the game upon first reading the description.

I played Greenleaf, a Leyanti with a big heart and a chatty side.

So, Greenleaf's plots are pretty much everyone else's plots. As in, the things she cares about are the things the people she cares about care about. One of her lovers was the leader, who was in love with and carrying the child of an outsider. And the other people Greenleaf loved were caught up in a lot of their own personal troubles. Her friends, her parents, pretty much everyone.

She did have a few flirty friends, and while some of those flirty, want-to-tumble-in-the-bushes people were around, she did start the game with a friend she loved dearly, but any time she showed interest in developing the relationship any closer, he ran for the hills. Patch, played by [livejournal.com profile] usernamenumber, he was something of a tragic character and a subject of much pity and mixed feelings from the rest of the tribe. Only Greenleaf had always stood by him and supported him, and so I spent the game flitting between my pregnant and under-pressure lover, Nightshade, and shoving myself next to Patch when he looked too upset.

She didn't care much about the tribe's politics, as she was fond of outsiders in general, but she cared when the issues hurt those she was caring for, which seemed to be the focus of that character. Happy-go-lucky, but fierce when it came down to it.

She had a minor existencial crisis when everyone was communing with the gods they followed, and Greenleaf had never really had that experience. She picked her god, took the sign, and that was that.

So, when she was a bit more confident that her friends and lovers were okay, she took some time off in the forest to find her god, Tala-Kay, figuring that the gods would be around in the time of turmoil, if ever. And Tala-Kay did find her, and was dodgy about answering questions, but ultimately came through about one of her other followers, Patch.

"Can I help him?" I asked.
"He's in love with you," she said back. "But he's afraid he'll hurt you."

Welp, there that was. After telling me to punch him in the face if he ever argued with me, Tala-Kay disappeared and I headed back to council - just in time for Patch to watch the man that killed his sister be confronted. As he was having a meltdown, something clicked in my head about my character and the things she was meant for and the things she found important. So, as council wound down, Nightshade asked if there was any other final business.

"Yes," I said, Patch's head in my lap, "I would like to marry Patch."

There was a moment of silence, then several moments of "Um, what?" from nearly everyone, including Patch.

"Did you ask Patch?" asked my mother.

"No," I said. "But all I care about is being there to support and love people, and if marrying him is a way I can love and support Patch for my whole life, then I want it." I was more eloquent than that, but that's the cliff notes.

My mother and Nightshade (and Patch!) approved, and apparently holding back from Greenleaf's many attempted seductions had taken its toll on Patch. xD He pulled her off into the bushes for the rest of game, much to the giggling of the other tribe members. Which is good, because I wanted like, a million babies.

So, happy endings for everyone Greenleaf cared about.

It was a fun departure for me - no main "me" goals, but that was actually awesome. I love running around and helping other people with their plots had all the reward, but none of the pressure. And casting me with [livejournal.com profile] usernamenumber was genius, as we tend to explode when cast together. In a good way.

Though the dress held up really well (it was awesome, and I was complimented on it a lot!), should I wear it again or lend it to someone, I would definitely consider boxers. I didn't realize how much time I would be spending in chairs or on the floor, which definitely changes costume logistics. xD
